With the help of the chinese leak and the Galaxy Tab 2 kernel sources i was able to boot CM9 on the chinese variant of the phone. With some dirty hacks it also boots on the EU version, but is pretty unstable and freezes constantly. We’ll need a new bootloader to get rid of it and we’re not able to flash the chinese bootloader on our phones.

A user with the chinese version of the phone is actually testing my builds and providing me logs. Would be easier and faster if i could test stuff myself, but we’re making very good progress anyway.

If we can get our hands on a new leak with updated bootloaders i’m sure it’s just a matter of hours till you can flash CyanogenMod 9 onto your GT-I9100G.

Let’s start fixing the little things and improve our kernel and CM itself.
There’s still a lot to do till CM9 is where it should be.

A lot of features are still missing.

Updated the CM9 Resurrection Edition / CM9 Odin Version to make it easier for unexperienced users to switch over into the REAL world of android!

It looks like that samsung is actually performing very bad if it comes to android.
- canceled rollout for 2.3.6 because of bugs
- non existent user experience on their ics roms (they really killed ics fully with touchwiz)
- only one device received a ics update yet, the other 1000000 are still waiting (that’s what happens if you flood the market with 100000 different variants)
- slow at releasing sources
- zero community support
- late on quadcore phone

We tried to brew our own 3.X based kernel (only basic board support) but did hit a wall. How to debug a non booting device without UART? Seems not possible and i don’t want to disassemble my device.

We tried to hack the samsung kernel without success.

Xplodwild did some cosmetic changes to the camera app to support some additional scene modes and stuff. Besides it, he fights with the video problems we’re having.

I played with the opensource samsung ril, helped on the galaxy sl cm9 port and did some cm9 builds for the galaxy nexus.

I’m not very motivated at the moment to put more hours into it.
Let’s wait for a wonder.
