Merry X-Mas.

Merry X-Mas! Thank you!
Kick ass, thanks man
Sweet treat although I´d rather await the finished build.
Merry Christmas to all devs
As i understand ril uses IP stack to communicate with modem. So it’s may me possible to filter out NITZ updates using iptables on svnet0 or something like that?
Nope…
iptables could handle only ARP, IPV4 and IPV6, and seems that there is no possibility to filter other ethertypes
That’s funny, but even ebtables could not handle some advanced filtering on arbitrary ethertypes – only the basic filtering using very limited fields…
So linux has no framework to flexibly filter ethertypes other than ipv4 || ipv6 and some others
thanks so much! merry christmas
Great Works Code…, it’s a very christmas day
I’ll just have to wait since I’m on O2 Germany, the only German carrier that supports NITZ as far as I know. And I prefer a stable and usable build anyway.
WoW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Codeworkx Your 산타클로스 !!!! Merry X mas~ hahaha Thanks korea Galaxy II in ICS 4.0.3 : )
Hohoho thanx for present but what is NITZ?
I find what is NITZ,thanx but this is not rom everyone if you love your phone:(
Merry Christmas
hope this wasnt due to ppl begging for releases
it’s to make some bloody noses.
i can see that
its already started
it’s funny to see how much noobs ignore the “only for advanced users”. xD
Have u watched Nyan cat?
its something like that
endless
Awesome, i’m going to download it now
! unfortunately our speed is so low in Iran
! it takes about 1 hour
!
Merry xmas
thank you so much!!!
Code they dont read and dont care about phone just flash flash flash easy guys.I love CM and cant wait ICE but I have only one sgs II I dont want destroyed them
thanks so much for sharing this! If it wasn’t for CM9 I would really be regretting not getting a Nexus right now.
hope its easy enough to ignore the idiocy this stirs up.
Merry Xmas. Here’s a kernel with sauce. Just for you. http://alturl.com/umpqj
Thanks for this. We really appreciate it. Please ignore the morons that are about to come out of the woodwork.
I’ll laugh at them. Makes fun.
that’s why i didn’t install it, i am a happy end user who will sit back watch all the people with the same level of knowledge as mine (very little) cry that it doesn’t work yet.
Codeworkx your doing a great job, and when you announce there’s a stable version i will be all over it like a rash .
OMG!! YOU DID! XDD You sir, are awesome, best Xmas gift this year!
“experimental Build” with alot off bugs hope ppl read that.
they do not
Experimental…
If this is experimental, why not have bugs?
If don’t have bugs, will be a stable rom…
Yes, I do. I was curious, I have tried, and liked the speed, the concept. Did not like that I could not use my provider, but hey, I know what an experimental build means. Thanks so much for ur work!
I’ll heed your warning and wait for a beta. Merry christmas!
Thank you sir for this release. You have a merry merry Christmas. You’ve done your part time and time again. Time for rest!
@Codeworkx: Daniel, thank you very much! Although,my network provider has NITZ I’m really thankfull that you provide this to us.
joking. It just work’s like a charm!!!
I’ve tried the build,and,buggs,glitches,my battery life,camera laggy
Once again,thank you very much.
All the best!
PPL go buy HTC Sensation!
ICS on HTC Sensation works well, full AOSP!
Samsung is total closed…
BR
no thnx…samsung software is not great, but hardware is just amazing!!!
Hammer
ich wünsch dir was
works great on at&t, very fast, thank god we can take the stupid persistant google bar off, great xmas present, lets hope we get another leak from sammobile, this has really come a long way
Thanks man! and Merry Christmas!
I’ve installed the rom and its stable enough for me!
although I have a question is there anyway to change the “Arabic” font in ICS? After waiting all these years for Google to add Arabic support to Android, they’ve chosen the worst font ever for Arabic.
Again great job!
Nice
Not bad for an experimental build
Keep up the good work!!
Heats up ma phone. Calling gives u a blank screen. Camera video dont work. I dunno if you wanted feedback. If not thanks anyway, gives a sense of very good things to come! Also when changing from portrait to landscape and vice versa its very slow to react but same with my galaxy nexus… I think its an ics problem. Cheers dude!
Tried this ROM … I must say Its pretty awesome. There is no reason for me to Stay on TW Based ICS. One more leak, and we have a daily usage build.
Codeworkx, I am getting SD Card full message when I open camera. I have enough space on SD Card. I am not asking for fix but just to know if this is known or new ?
i am from Pakistan and it keeps on loosing network connection.
Thanks for the chance to check it out for ourselves, Daniel. Happy holidays
Well, it is quit buggy (Unstable as devs stated)… but I’m amazed from the ICS, the UI is so much improved
That makes me more hungry for ‘stable’ ICS… or, I’m just gonna get GNexus
Thank you very much codeworkx for this release!!!!
Its working good i can even call with this!!
Oke guys here is a tiny review about cm9 on the sgs2. I am on Telfort Netherlands and i am lucky that they dont support NITZ
I have been testing this rom out for a few hours and it feels really nice and smooth.
- face unlock works very good! (but uses strange colors, dont know if this is normal)
- browser is super fast and nice design!
- calling works good!!!
- wifi works good!
- Google apps work smooth and have nice interface.
- Whatsapp is FAST!
- Stock camera doesn’t work but camera fx works!!! (but bad quality)
- Multitasking works for most stock apps, but some do not close.
- Sensors arent workink good, but if you press menu button in call it just works to get your screen back.
- With low brightness the yellowish tint appears.:-(
- in some screens the grapics are not so nice.
- video playback doesn’t work but it works with mx player on sw
- Some apps don’t work get force close.
Conclusion: Very nice and smooth experience, because calling works this rom is for me stable enough to use.
if you have any questions ask me.
What about FM radio?
cheers
probably the last thing on our todo list.
hahah. Why you guys go on about pointless little features like FM Radio, themes and headset volume, I have no idea. I’m surprised again, and again that Codeworkx doesn’t just stop public comments, as he’s a better man than I to be able to put up with the ‘little feature’ whinging.
It’s been said before, time and again, but if we let Codeworkx and the team get on with the important work (as they’re already doing) like working toward stability and core features (like the phone, connectivity, etc) the little features can come along when they’re good and ready.
Besides, what year is this?? Why are people using FM Radio?!?
Merry X-Mas too you.
Merry Christmas to all.
Kevin
Wow Kevin bist du wirklich so Update süchtig ?
codeworkx do you have any say or input on cm9 features?, if so is it possible to a: have theme chooser allow for the application of individual components of a theme ie only the status bar instead of it bieng all or none, and b: i know miui is bad, but the file manager sorted files by type or displayed them normaly and that was really useful at times, c: this isnt super important because of touchpad dailer but the contact predictor on sense and touchwiz is useful, thank you for your time
i don’t care about those stuff.
there’s still enough to do to fix all bugs.
I understand, thank you
Any chance of getting this experimental build for AT&T version of SGS2? Thanks!
be patient
Any chance of fixing the headset volume? That is the only big thing which doesn’t work for me on this build. Otherwise it is a great piece of work.
it’s not major. one of the lasts things.
or try to fix it by yourself.
It is major when you listen to a lot of music on your phone and it is the only thing preventing you from using the ROM for everyday use.
for you it’s major. for most of the people not.
I would prefer a phone that i can use as a phone before a fancy mp3 player.
Nader, It works great as a phone (whether your netork uses NITZ or not)
i think it effects ring volume too? my ring volume is very quiet, and i think thats pretty major?
It’s pretty easy to make headset volume normal.
You go to music then when headphones are connected and you are in the “now playing” screen hit the menu button go to sound effects under headset and press on the graph thingy it will say that dsp manager has stopped and volume will be normal!
That’s how it worked for me
Great job Codeworkx and the entire team… tho I’m super tempted I need to hold off for something the team is more happy with… tho I’m drooling for some ice goodness…!!
Tho I had a slight question… is there some seperate page or thread for making suggestions…not for now ofcourse because more imp things have to be done to make it stable atleast… but just make one for maybe some useful features… I was never able to find one for cm7 either so was just asking for future reference…
but keep it up…!!
Any fix for when phone doesn’t wake up when being called
?
It is a nice test build for sure! Most important things (if your provider does not support NITZ) are working pretty ok! Thnx CW for this intro to CM9…really nice to try!!!
no face unlock after flashing the zip
dont know y done the procedure as stated
Hey codeowrkx,
Please release another kang of cm7,would love to try out the disable boot animation option.
Thanks
I made two builds from today’s sources of CM7 plus my own small mod to Camera program (now still in review, but tested by myself and others and confirmed to work well) – the “Advanced” settings for the camera let you now select if you want to save media on internal phone memory or on the removable SD card. Switchable anytime. If you try it, please let me know if it worked, and if you are registered on review/cyanogenmod.com, consider adding a +1 to the change (http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,10840).
Here are the links to the two ROMs I built today:
Galaxy S2 AT&T version:
http://hyperionics.com/downloads/cgn/update-cm-7.2.0-RC0-Galaxys2ATT-KANG-signed.zip
Galaxy S2 international:
http://hyperionics.com/downloads/cgn/update-cm-7.2.0-RC0-Galaxys2-KANG-signed.zip
hyperionics.com is my own server, I’ll leave the files there for a few days.
Greg
Thanks for the build.Switching storage in the camera works fine.
BTW where is the setting to disable boot animation?
I can’t find it in cm settings.
Nvm
Found it!
Great, thank you for reporting on the Camera program enhancement working fine! The “turn off animation”, if anyone else is looking for it, is under Settings – CyanogenMod Settings – Performance – after clicking OK on “WARNING! Dragons Ahead!” scroll down until you see “Disable boot animation” check-box.
The screen is just black during the boot instead of showing the skate-boarder Android logo. Not sure if the phone really boots faster without the animation.
Greg
I’m happy to report that my change to Camera project in CM 7 to allow selection of either internal phone memory or external SD card for saving photos and videos was approved and merged today into the main CM gingerbread branch. Now anytime you get a build of CM 7, this extra option will be there.
I’ll consider making a similar change in CM 9 now.
Greg
Hi Codeworkx,
Kleiner Tip: Nicht bewegen.
Good alpha release, my provider support nitz and i rollback into my post release but it’s cool to try ics without fc, i hope that you can have a samsung leak with a fonctionnal nitz very soon !
great tried in my sammy
turn out my provider use NitiZ , at least i got the chance to play around
would wait for future build
thanks codworks & team for the great work, more or less
Awesome work Codeworkx,
It might be an unstable alpha release, but in my opinion it’s even a (far) better release then in the I9000 days and the first public CM7 releases.
For an unstable alpha it runs very nice.
Looking forward to see more releases in the future, cause Roms of bigS wont touch my GS2, you guys got me way to CM addicted xD
Enjoy the holz and we hope you and TeamHacksung are going to make us happy again with the new wonderful features of CM9.
Heads up dudes!!
And a happy new year …
I see you’ve been fixing some things. You said you would wait for kernel sorces or a new leak but you just go ahead and fix whatever you can anyway.
Always doing more than you promised. Great job! =D
Excellent stuff! I’ve written a few apps for Android, but I’m still learning the ropes on coding ROMs, and what you guys have done despite Samsung’s general dick-ishness is really incredible! Now if only there were a forum where only ACTUAL developers could post replies to threads, so those of us who just want to silently follow along with the progress of CM9 could do so without sorting through dozens of posts by n00bs who don’t heed the warning and the other users who waste space berating them…
Hallo codeworkx
Do you think it was a good idea to release this version? I have read the thread at XDA an its so horrible with this noobs.
Otherwise its really hard work you´ve done. I try on my own at Galaxy Note until now, theres no success and I am to much noob to get involved into developement. But I try and try and maybe someday I got something.
But I do know now how hard it is to get something running without anything from big S.
BTW: I wish you a happy new year
hey codeworkx.. any chance tv-out through mhl will be present in cm9 stable?
Hey codeworkx, SamMobile have a new leak which they wont release till the new year to the masses, but hopefully they will send a preview over to yourself to look at before then.
Enjoy your new year celebrations!
SamMobile is releasing a new leak from Samsung the 1st of January!
https://twitter.com/#!/SamMobiles/status/152321049143418880
Do you think this can help the development of CM9?
Codeworkx will get his needed part tonight….written on sammobiles twitter so…it will help but question is…how much it will help >
How should i be able to tell you if it helps or not if i don’t have it yet?
I’m not Harry Potter!
You sure are magical too ;p! We’ll wait, lets just hope its something usefull
Awesome work daniel.. If I was a girl I would let you have me
Hey codeworkx,
sorry for bothering you but since sammobile is sending you the files tonight of the new leak can we except a stable alpha/beta as a new years gift?
Thanks
It depends on which improvements Samsung introduced in this new ROM!
It will help the development for sure but the main need now is to have kernel sources!
Lol ppl they gonna be enjoying their vacations
i suggest u do too
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20810527&postcount=23
Have spent the day on 29-2 and 29-3, surprisingly refined and stable. The camera looks promising and is already much better than the CM7 one is some aspects.
I was VERY surprised by GPS performance, lock was slow, but 5m (REPORTED) accuracy upon “lock” with only 2 satellites. I verified the accuracy with a hand held. Obviously with 2 sats, Z was horrible, but XY was phenomenal. I was only able to get 2, occasionally 3, satellites in view (10 in the same location with CM7).
A suggestion: sleep? Do you ever?
What has changed in the latest build by updating the vendor libs?
RIL got updated to KP4.
Expecting a new year gift….ie a working RIL
That’s not up to us. You’re expecting a wonder.
i was reading through the thread on xda and i realized you should probably quit your current job and become an anger management therepist cus i woulda packed up and quit the ics project for the public after reading all the bull on the forum, thanks for ignoring the idiots and trolls as much as humanly possible
Just wanted to say that you’re doing a incredible work with this. I was very stunned about how much you already achieved with this. Keep on and I hope that Samsung will do their job too.
Just tried latest with KP4 RIL/modem – Still crashes with every NITZ message (Java IOException, according to logs).
I guess Samsung minds their Starcraft 2 strategies more than they care about their software.
Either way, Thanks for the hard work going forward with this. Despite what others might say, I admire the way you go about this.
Thanks.
you’re getting Java IOExceptions ?
gimme log plx.
For me, mobile network only run in only 2G mode, i use KP4 kernel.
are u able to add https://github.com/project-voodoo/mc1n2_voodoo to the current build? voodoo louder looks sweet but the current ics build kernel doesnt support it
no kernel sources.
Great Work!
Actually it runs a lot better then I’ve expected on my Galaxy S2. Solved NITZ problem with a different modem (calls and messages work, though not mobile data, but there is still a wifi). A short video of CM9 running on Galaxy S2, most of the stuff works pretty well!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUP8TBIveic
What modem are you using?
XXKP4, though you need to flash special XXKP1 to make network working and then you can flash XXKP4.
Does you closing the thread mean no updated builds for the time being?
it’s open again and a new update is waiting for you
Thanks for the update and the quick reply and of course thanks for all your work!
Contrary to codeworkx’s advice I got impatient and decided to try the Dec. 31 2nd build on AT&T version of SGS2. Modified the updater-script assert line and it installed fine and most things work fine as well. Can’t test phone calls at the moment, no signal where I’m today. Will report on this tomorrow. WiFi and Bluetooth audio work fine. Camera pictures work, but there is FC when trying to record a video. GPS seems to work fine, although a better test will be when I’m in a moving car. The bluetooth issue I reported before with Astro-Player Nova stopping when playing at faster than normal speed and the screen goes off, seems to be cured under this version of ICS. Good work so far, codeworkx, thank you and Happy New Year!
Atnim seem to be away, hope he went skiing (and wish I could go too…) Would be glad to help him when he gets back and tries to make a better build for AT&T version.
Greg
Forgot to add – the hardware buttons at the bottom are slightly messed up – the “back” and “search” buttons don’t work at all, and the “home” button works as “back” button. The “menu” button works fine. Still usable in this configuration, but requires a tweak.
Please treat this as a test report, not as demands to fix things… And again thank you very much for your excellent work, codeworkx!
Greg
Hi Codeworx,
Matej
Update: I can connect to my mobile network with WanamLite XXKP8 ICS RC2 without any problems.
efs beschädigt oder nicht gemounted.
nvdata file open failed. No such file or directory.
Thank you for your answer. I was just about to restore my efs folder when the next CM9 version started working without connection problems.
Will the thread open for further updates?
And – can you or should I open a Q&A thread(doesn’t mean you have to answer questions, just for different people to answer or ask questions)?
Friend is the last great roms you uploaded of the Galaxy SII! It works perfect! But lacks an important option, choose between the bands, only just prefer 2g but also that you can choose only the 3g as in the original system of samsung .. It is an option that many must choose for good utilization of the network! I’d appreciate if you had in mind my recommendation, with this option including the rom would be perfect! Sorry for my English .. Thanks!
Just some more input on my trial of the ROM on AT&T version of SGS2: I installed the 1st of Jan. 2 builds today, did not see much difference from yesterday. While driving I noticed that GPS now finds satellites much faster and seems to achieve better position accuracy. The Internet access over my phone provider worked fine (T-Mobile actually, my phone is unlocked so I don’t use AT&T network at the moment). Tried calling and apparently I got a connection to an answering machine at home, but could not hear anything and the machine did not record my voice either, so I guess mic and phone voice still don’t work on this phone.
There is one more annoying thing: when the screen is turned off and the phone left to itself undisturbed, the screen sometimes goes on by itself for a few seconds, then blanks out again. This happens every few minutes. After the test it’s back to CM7 on this phone for me.
Greg
This version is not meant to be run on the at&t version.
I know, I just test it for fun, and also to learn how much the versions of SGS2 are different from each other.
and also, I guess, to help pin-point the areas that need work for someone who eventually will work on AT&T version of CM9.
I too have been playing with this on my i777. Works great. I know the hardkeys are kernel issue, was thinking that the audio is an issue with audio libs.
I know codeworkx, and this build is i9100 only, and do not expect anything else.
But is there anything we can do/attempt until atinm gets back?
Sorry for the clutter, just hoping to get some ideas and help any way I can. Great work.
To MotoMudder (Can’t reply to your post, apparently reached the max level of replies) – let’s move the i777 discussion elsewhere, maybe to http://www.teamhacksung.org/forum/ ? Codeworkx is the boss there as well, could we have a Galaxy S II – GT-I777 forum there under devices? I already have an account at “gregko” there, but no access to sources/git/review yet. I’m a professional C/C++ developer, with little experience on Android so far (a small contrib to gingerbred CyanogenMod in Java), maybe we could create an i777 developer team there with atnim, MotoMudder and others…
codeworkx created an SGH-I777 forum at teamhacksung, so let’s head there for further discussion:
http://www.teamhacksung.org/forum/index.php?page=Board&boardID=30
Greg
Hey Codeworkx – been using the mod since Christmas. Just wondered, why is the thread closed? I know last time we were waiting for a kernel leak, but you haven’t explained why this time.
Thanks.
Because of Spam.
codeworkx excellent rom! I tried all versions and are excellent! Very good work! It is an alpha version but I found a small bug! The USB tethering has a FC, the first time you use it works, then to switch networks from 2G to 3G or viceversa, to connect the USB tethered doesn´t work! It tries to connect but don’t work!! Thanks for your excellent work!! With this i only tried to help!! Thanks!! I wait to fixed..
i am setting up my linux laptop for the first time.. i new to this.. so my question is..
for a htc i can use in the 51-android.rules
#SUBSYSTEM==”usb”, SYSFS{idVendor}==”0bb4″, MODE=”0666″
whats is it for a samsung?
thanks!!
ask google.

scroll down
I think my head exploded yesterday.. so much new information!! reading.. reading.. reading.. sorry for the lazy question! couldnt focus any more i think.. do you have some starter tips?
Thanks..!
Hello, how i can get Lithuanian keyboard witch all lithuanian simbols? Please reply me
With*
Hey,
I flashed the latest build three days ago while being abroad in Germany. Everything worked fine, I was able to send messages and recieve calls.
When I came back to the UK my phone didnt pick up signal (I am on 3 UK).
So I tried to go back to CM7 1.16. I wiped my phone, flashed it twice, installed gapps, it still didnt pick up a signal. Furthermore it didn’t give me the option of setting up my phone, it sends me straight to the homescreen.
Same happens with CM7 stable. I tried flashing different modems but my phone doesn’t pick up any signal.
With NEKI2 and CM7 1.16 I managed to be able to scan for mobile networks, got a complete list, but I am unable to connect to any of them.
I read that some people solved a similar issue by removing the sim pin. I had my pin never enabled in the first place.
What can I do to get signal back?! CM9 or CM7.
Thanks a lot!
LOG or it didn’t happen.
i did a lot of reading and googled for my problem.. but i get an error at the following stage..
“Copy proprietary files”
cd ~/android/system/device/samsung/galaxys2/
android/system/device/samsung/galaxys2/: No such file or directory
when i create these folders manually followed by ./extract-files.sh
of course there are no files to extract..
my phone is connected any i have cm7 rom running..
also adb recognize my phone..
sorry if my questions are lame.. but i followed the instructions on the wiki and really tried to solve this myself.. but i guess this is to new for me..
Repo isn’t synced correct! keeps on hanging at fetching!
will try again tomorrow!
Open extract-files.sh with a Editor and have a look at it.
It’s self explaining.
Codeworkx, do you know whether Bluetooth 4.0 BLE functionality would/is enabled in the new kernel?
The device seems to come with with BCM4330 chip which supports it, according to http://www.broadcom.com/products/Wireless-LAN/802.11-Wireless-LAN-Solutions/BCM4330.
Thanks!
How can i log my use and send to you? Is it usefull for you?
When I read the changelog of the Build 01102012, I almost peed my pants laughin’!!! Ahah, apart from that your ROM is great! And also, i’m going insane in the waiting for kernel sources being released by SUCKsung. LOL
same here
codeworkx, did you keep a count of how many people still downloaded the build ? that’d be funny to know
