Dear Samsung Community!
We’ll not tolerate this!
It’s now up to all of you to make Samsung update our Phones! Fight for it!
The Galaxy S is 15 Months old now and for example a contract duration in germany is 24 months. I expect that we’ll get updates for at least 24 Months!
This can’t be serious.
a) Update to 4.x without TouchWiz
b) Release aosp compatible binarys like google does for nexus devices
c) Release full sourcecode!
If they’re not updating the Galaxy S, then i’ll never every buy any samsung phone!
SIGN THIS PETITIONS TO SHOW SAMSUNG THAT WE DON’T TOLERATE WHAT THEY’RE DOING:

they have to update it!!! this phone is not older than 18 month! i have got one of them
forgot to say i won’t buy Samsung android devices any more, not for the support and updates, just for the EFS folder /:)! full of shit!
In Canada, the contracts are 3 years, with a potential hardware upgrade after 2. This is pretty ridiculous.
And this is not just for I9ooo users,it is also for I91oo,same thing might (I mean,1oo%) will happen next year this time for Galaxy S2 users.
I own GS2,this subject should be untouchable to me,but, knowing the samsung support….
Just for sgs i9000 and galaxy tab p1000 no update ICS!!!
You didn’t get the point dude.
No it isn’t just for galaxy s and tab. point b) and c) are also importand for all other devices.
I own a SGSII I9100, but signed the petition.
I have too sgs II I9100 but offcource sign petition:)
I did the same
I suggest to do the same until they release the source code to the developers for all android devices
amen to that.
I’ve bought SGS2 after N1 and I’m very disappointed.
The Nexus One was a new device and support around it was mediocre at best, but both Google and HTC put a lot of time and money in seeing it through: the phone was distributed to blogger, at Google events and HTC replaced a whole bunch of devices for silly problems like dust under the screen, unavoidable in the making of a brand new device and market strategy.
Those days are over, it seems. Google, sadly, picked Samsung – twice – to spear-head its Android OS. It makes sense – Samsung has manufacturing capabilities like few others have, able to withstand market demand for their devices.
Now though, HTC has fallen behind due to Apple law suits and an odd $300m investment in Beats, while Samsung is flooding the market like Nokia back in the day.
Samsung sure makes nice hardware, but they forget to attend the mavens of the community: the programmers, the advanced users, the neighborhood IT guys and the advanced users.
I wish for just one manufacture to simply try, for once, make a good device with clean, pure Android OS experience. Release the source codes and let the community play with it.
I am sure that, just like Google’s pure Nexus devices, this manufacturer will sell well as well, plus profit more from not needing to invest so much in develops that need to hack weird UIs.
Never buying a non-Nexus device again.
in singapore, there are loads of Samsung android users like ace and SII.. but very few android users do all the customizing and updates… on the other way, HTC and motorola are the underdogs here. I guess Samsung is banking on such users, people who want a iPhone alternative, yet light, decent screen and beautiful phone to use, but not giving a damn about the android community and all the benefits it brings. =((
Guys on twetter real fight,Dany destroyed them:)))))))))))))
They can NOT be serious? They are butt-raping their customers so hard, it’s no fun anymore!
Releasing all code needed for development is the least they can do when they stop support for a device, the code is already there in samsung HQ, RELEASE IT!
My first phone was a Motorola v3 Razr, then an iPhone 3g, after that I used Nokia 5530 in a final transition to my actual Galaxy SII. I have to say that I love the internal hardware of my SII more than my dad’s iPhone 4, but the lack of software/firmware support from Samsung is pulling me back. I have to say that XDA, codeworkx, Cyanogen and all the community are the best part from Android.
Come on! DO things right Sammy, you have the costumers already buying YOUR products!! Better focuse in quality than quantity…
Who cares the sg1 is ancient. And seriously who bought it way back then for the purpose of getting ics on it? Suck it up princesses…
You sound like a useless brat who lives off your parents at 40 years of age.
Seriously, I would prefer they used their resources into making a better sgs3 than messing around with older model phones. I dont see the big deal, samsung dont owe anyome anything for this phone, next you will be asking for support for windows 95. Move on…. One more thing if you feel hard done by dont buy samsung…
And if you got your SGS3 with a more messed up Android which wont get updated anymore after 15 months you’ll do the same?
Ignore it and be a lemming of their system?
If they do it once and nobody complains, then they’ll do it on every model.
Nah he’ll obviously rush out and buy a new phone for no reason.
You are missing the point, It starts with one product down the line then the same will happen to your phone at one point. This is nothing to do with money but more to do with principles. They can provide ICS, they could at least provide the sources to give the community the opportunity to get a stable ROM for us.
HTC wildfire was a phone which only had Froyo from official support, I flashed it for a friend of mine to CM7 and he is a very happy camper. It is always nice to see a free ROM outperform the original.
Samsung said they loved developers when they sent a few phones, now it the time to redeem that marketing stunt, they can mske a difference and should.
Signed.
Very disapponted. I mean, the phone is by no means old, and the nexus s has pretty much the same hardware. I bet they are just scared the current normal users might not like the change. You know, the users like my mate who refuses to touch anything incase he has to reinstall something. It was a challenge even to get him to update from eclair to gingerbread.
I signed the petition because my galaxy s serves me well as my mp3 and overseas back-up phone
This is madness!
If this was a HTC Desire i might understand a move like this but on a Galaxy S?
That phone has a ton of storage space. >.>
I’m a Galaxy i8150 (a.k.a Galaxy W) user. It’s released last august. quite new device with decent hardware (1.4 ghz cpu, adreno 205 gpu, 512 MB ram etc.).
So guess what ? i8150 doesn’t get ics update too.
Shame on you Samsung.
some update, Samsung Backtracks

Thinks they’ve considered our opinions! Celebration time, people! Though you can’t fully trust Samsung still..
Sent via my Galaxy S II GT-I9100
so in the end, in that so called lite ICS, they will give i9000 users ice cream and remove the sandwich or vise versa ?
Nobody needs Touchwiz. We just want Android 4 (ICS).
Galaxy S was #1 cell phone last year. It deserves the update.
hey hey!! this is a very nice website here and I just wanted to comment & say that you’ve done a great job here! Very nice choice of colors & layout, very easy on the eyes.. Nicely done!…
Signed. Other half has an i9000. It’s still a good bit of kit.
That’s why I call them SUCKsung! Those b***ards are against every basic principle of an open source way of life… LOL
